Born of Creativity, Innovation and social impact in 2016, DONNJERRY was founded. A collaboration between the skilled artisans of Uganda and the master leather craftsmen of Italy by design of Creative and Artistic director Don Dillon Jerry Mugume, driven by a resolute mission to preserve traditional art forms and craftsmanship. Our journey began with a mesmerizing endeavor to keep the intricate art of mat weaving alive, working closely with artisan weaving communities of women in Uganda. Together, we breathed new life into this timeless practice and brought their extraordinary craftsmanship to the modern world.

Immersed in the captivating process, we marveled at the meticulousness of cutting reeds from palm trees and papyrus, patiently solar drying them for months, followed by soaking them in natural plant dyes for years. The reeds were then dried once again, repeating this painstaking process at least five times over the course of a months. Inspired by this enchantment, our creative director, Don Dillon, envisioned a novel application of the mats, incorporating contemporary patterns and techniques.

Driven by our passion to merge tradition and innovation, we forged a remarkable partnership with Italian leather goods craftsmen. This collaboration birthed an exceptional collection of handbags, luggage, and travel leather goods that transcended mere functionality and became awe-inspiring works of art. Each piece embodied the fusion of ancient techniques with modern aesthetics, a testament to our commitment to timeless elegance and craftsmanship.
